Celebrating Patriotism and Valor: The 58th Auburn Veteran's Day Parade in Auburn, WA

November 11th holds a special place in the hearts of Americans across the nation. It is a day to honor, respect, and remember the brave men and women who have selflessly served our great country. On this remarkable day, Auburn, Washington stands tall in its tribute to veterans with its illustrious 58th Veteran's Day parade, a grand spectacle of unity, patriotism, and admiration for our heroes.

The city of Auburn, fondly known as the "Gateway to the Cascades", transforms into a canvas of red, white, and blue on Veteran's Day. The streets brim with enthusiastic families, veterans from various wars, active-duty members, and patriotic citizens, all coming together for a singular purpose - to express their gratitude and pride.

From its inception, the Auburn Veteran's Day parade has grown to be one of the largest of its kind on the West Coast. This year, expect to witness over 200 entries, including military vehicles, veteran units, marching bands playing heart-stirring tunes, honor guards, and drill teams. A sight that stands out each year is the motorcade of veterans from World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and the recent conflicts in the Middle East. These brave souls, some on the march and others waving from vehicles, are the heart and soul of the parade, reminding us all of the sacrifices made and the valor displayed.

Children play an integral part in the celebrations. Their innocent eyes filled with wonder, waving the Star-Spangled Banner, and wearing outfits that mirror the uniforms of our service members add a touch of hope and promise for the future. They are the generation that will carry forward the legacy of respect, honor, and gratitude for our veterans.

As the parade moves forward, the city resonates with applause, cheers, and the occasional tearful eye, all testament to the deep-seated love and respect for our troops and veterans. The streets echo with sounds that make your heart swell with pride - the rhythmic beats of the drums, the powerful notes of the bugle, and the harmonious melodies sung by school choirs.

And what's a parade without floats? Auburn's Veteran's Day parade boasts some of the most creative and patriotic-themed floats. From representations of iconic war moments to tributes to fallen heroes, these floats are not just decorative pieces but narrate stories of bravery, sacrifice, and national pride.

The entire Puget Sound has many business owners, real estate, mortgage people and staff that support our military and Veterans and you can find them side by side with you.  Their presence demonstrates their support even more.

"This is always a great Veteran event as I see fellow Veterans that I don't always get to see throughout the year.  It's almost like a reunion," says Dave Maestas retired Special Forces "Green Beret" & Airborne Ranger.  The National Alliance to End Veteran Suicide and their Race to Save Veterans program are based right here in the Puget Sound and they are doing great things for Veterans nationwide. You will always see Rod Whittmier and his NA2EVS team at the parade.

While the parade is the day's highlight, Auburn offers a plethora of events to make this day memorable. The Veterans Memorial Park, located at the heart of the city, will have a Remembrance Ceremony. Here, veterans share their stories, poems are recited, and a moment of silence is observed, giving everyone a moment to reflect, remember, and pay their respects.

In these trying times, where divisions often overshadow unity, events like the Auburn Veteran's Day parade play a pivotal role in bringing communities together. They serve as a reminder of our shared values, the sacrifices made to protect our freedoms, and the undying spirit of America.  It reminds you our founding principals for Life, Liberty, the Pursuit of happiness.  Tyranny will always be defeated- as all Veterans have taken the oath against all enemies- foreign and domestic. So help us God.

So, come November 11th, be a part of this grand celebration. Let's stand shoulder to shoulder, young and old, civilian and service member, to salute our heroes. Let's make the 58th Auburn Veteran's Day parade not just an event, but a testament to our shared love for this great nation and the brave souls who defend it.
