Do You Need a post-Holiday Retreat?
Did the Holiday season burning you out? The good news is I have the antidote. It's time to treat yourself to the most unexpectedly quaint spa you’ve never heard of. Ocean Crest Resort located in Moclips, WA, is a spa that anyone can feel welcome to, that may sound like a generic statement, but it’s as genuine as it gets. Visiting this spa does not feel like an exclusive Seattle or Portland luxury resort that may make you feel like you have to break the bank to earn your space - which personally is not my style. The culture here is very laid back, warm, and cozy. The property is tucked into the Olympic forest, many rooms are nestled upon bluffs with ocean views. Inside your room you could have the most fantastically retro fireplace. There is a diverse range of room types available to suit any budget and meet many different party sizes. Rooms range from suites containing kitchens, fireplaces and ocean views to hotel style rooms without the view or extra amenities. Personally, I’ve only booked rooms with fireplaces, and they’ve always delivered quality and satisfaction. Well worth the already reasonable price. Staying in any room on the property provides access to the spa facilities which include a hot tub, a lap pool and a sauna. Simple and sweet. Ocean Crest is a great place for couples, families and friends. The lap pole serves great as a place for children to play while the adults relax. The property also has a delicious restaurant with an equally delicious view. The restaurant may not suit your needs for every meal, so there is local fare available in Seabrook, Pacific beach and Copalis 5-25 minutes away. If accommodations here are out of the budget, the facility offers day passes to utilize the cedar serenity spa for about $13 each, you can’t beat that! I have learned from staff that in order to get the best rate on rooms, the best method is to call them directly. I always review the website to see what offers or discounts may be offered seasonally, be sure to mention it while on the phone and confirm that a discount or the best rate is applied to your reservation.
My recommendation is to take the flight of stairs to the beach, passing through the beautiful fern filled ravine the resort is built around. Create time to play with family, walk the beach, or stare into the expansive abyss that is the Pacific ocean. Then return and sink into the warm comforts of hot water and steam, only to be followed by a crackling fire and warm blankets. Few things in this life get better than a day spent like this. You will thank yourself, and your family will thank you.
You may be thinking this all sounds very simple and lacks some frills, but allow me to argue! Once you feel the stiffness leave your bones, muscles warmed and relaxed while you’re looking out the window tucked under the golden moss filled canopy of douglas fir, western cedar and sitka spruce, all that was previously weighing on you will melt away. The land and environment on the western side of the olympic peninsula are mystical and dreamy, the perfect ingredients for a weekend retreat to rejuvenate yourself for 2023.
